January 5, 6 and 7, 2015, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Howell Opera House
Here’s an opportunity for those with an interest in sewing and designing to participate in a unique ‘fashion is art’ program! The 7th Annual Runway Repurposed is a special fundraiser for the Howell Opera House that combines the art of fashion design with the use of recycled clothing and materials.
Participating designers of any age and level of sewing experience are welcome to register in one of the following designer categories: Young Beginner, Beginner Student, Beginner Adult, Advanced, or Avant Garde (new category). At registration, hundreds of pieces of clothing are available for designers to peruse and choose from to take home and use to create a new. original outfit that will be showcased on the runway for an audience on Sunday, February 15, at Crystal Gardens Banquet Center.
All participating designers receive a certificate of participation, ribbon, and gift bag. 1st and 2nd place winners in each category are awarded a prize and trophy. New for 2015: a $500 cash prize will be given to the 1st place Advanced Designer winner and a $250 cash prize for the 2nd place Advanced Designer winner!
A ‘before’ photo will be taken at registration of each contestant with their clothing choices. This photo will be displayed on a screen during the event in February that will give the audience and judges a better idea of what materials were incorporated into the new garment.
All guidelines and details will be available at registration. Give it a try! Come to registration to ask your questions and get an idea about what this uniquely creative, popular, and inspiring event is all about!
